201-e

201-e will be a building for 30 SROs (Single Room Occupancy). The SROs will be nothing special other than the $750 monthly rent to include all of the utilities (except telephone). The side of the building sits on a hill and the basement level from the front will be ground in the back. This allows for an extra 5 SROs + a single car garage for realty use only. As with most apartments, there is no garage space, instead relying on the bus network. This location will have 2 bus routes, and a 5 minute bus ride to Downtown.

Each SRO will have a ¾ bathroom which is for hygiene reasons. I just don’t see a communal shower being really hygienic, especially since it would be unrealistic to clean the showers every day. With that in mind, the ¾ bathroom in each unit will make more sense even if it requires a hallway to get to the main room. On the hallway wall close to the entry door will be the control panel. Even though it will likely not be that you would have a second person living with you, the control panel will also be used for temperature control, and various statuses of the SRO. The room itself will have a dormitory refrigerator next to the wall for the shower. The refrigerator will be couch height which can allow for the top of the refrigerator to host for other resources such as a charging area for your phone. I am sure you could also place a microwave oven on top of the refrigerator, and that would make it easier for you to live. If you decide to buy a microwave, then a 1kwh microwave will be best. Next to the refrigerator will be a sleeper sofa. During waking hours, the sleeper sofa will function as a sofa. During sleeping hours, the sofa can be unfolded to make a full size bed that you could sleep on. On the other side of the sleeper sofa will be a stand that can hold for a printer, or any other things. Across from the stand, there will be a corner desk. This desk will be ideal for placing your notebook PC on to charge, and give you an alternative place to do your work. You could of course sit on the sleeper sofa, but I would imagine this will be for more casual use of the computer. Between the stand and corner desk will be a window to look out of. Next to the desk will be a 40″ smart TV. The TV will sit on a TV table which will have doors beneath to host the SRO’s LAN. There will be a coaxial jack to allow for OTA (Over The Air) television, and a ethernet jack for internet connection. You will be responsible for your own router, and setting it up. Most routers will come with 4 LAN ports so you can add things like an ATA (Analog Telephone Adapter), NAS (Network Attached Storage), or a Tablo device. You will simply plug an ethernet cable into the WAN of the router, and plug the other end into the ethernet jack. From there, you would be able to access the LAN (wired connection) to set things up. Once you set everything up, you can unplug your computer from the router.

If you are in need of assistance for setting up the router, you can request a house call. Most likely, I will come down to setup the router for you. This will include setting up your SSID, and making sure everything connects. I will also set your router password to something you can remember, but hard to guess. If you want a guest network, that can be setup as well. Once everything is set up, you will be able to make changes once you get a computer, and will simply connect via Wifi, or with an ethernet cable.
