I am sure there will be a number of Section-8 tenants that might be disabled, or elderly. With that in mind, this is a feature that would help them a lot. Any building 5 stories or taller requires an elevator, but most of my apartments seems to be 4 floors instead of 5. However, this feature will be installed nonetheless. The elevator might require a key card to access certain floors. A tenant can request that their floor is locked. This is good for security. Also, most of the time, basement will also be locked. You wouldn’t want a homeless person sleeping in the laundry room, would you?
The call box for the elevator will be working which is required by law. You would also see the elevator description, and phone number to call the elevator support company. This will be invaluable if the call box for whatever reason does not work. You would also see a copy of the inspection permit with the original being at the realty office.
For those visually impaired, there will be braille next to each button to assure they can select the proper floor. Also, the elevator would speak the floor as the door opens. This will allow the visually impaired person to know which floor they are on, and which floor to exit from.
