Security

Security will be taken into this century. Instead of relying on physical keys, every resident will be provided with a key card. This card will use RFID to connect to a reader. If accepted, the mag lock will unlock and allow entry. If the card is not accepted – the door will remain locked. Each unit will have an “owner” profile which can not be changed except through the owner. You will have an administrator profile, and user profiles. You can add people such as a baby-sitter, and revoke access if they lost the card, or they will not relinquish. Each card will cost $25, but you can choose to buy RFID devices from other sources. The system will be interconnected with the internet to revoke old key cards, and assign new ones without too much issue. This will be done through a database that will be located at the realty office. The security system for the locking system will be Verkada.

One could also have an RFID chip inserted into their hand. The chip is about the size of a grain of rice. This chip can be added as the administrator or user. This means there will be no chance of losing the key. I will have complete control over which areas the cards will have access to. You can set cards with time/day limits, but can not grant access to a locale they don’t have access to. For example, you can not grant access to an apartment that is not yours even though you can grant access to yours. The administrator role will work just for the residence, and common spaces in the building you reside in.

Home security will be the responsibility of the tenant of that residence. In the case of the rental, you will be required to give me an access PIN in case I would need to enter the unit such as repairs. If there is no PIN provided, I will assume there will be no active security alarm system.

Since a RFID is required to enter the unit, one must notify me immediately if you lost the card. This is so I can disable that card, and provide for a new one. I will assume that I will be able to drive, and with that being the case – I will drive to you if it is after hours. This is because bus service might not be so reliable later in the night. You will just have to make it home. If I can not drive, then the agent will need to deliver the card after I assign the card to you. If you are concerned about losing your key card, then the surgically implanted RFID chip might be your best option.
